How did you find us?: Browsing through the games available. It was months ago, but then I finally decided to give this game a try.

IC:

Character name: Chihiro Fujisaki
Fandom: Dangan Ronpa
Timeline: Chapter 2, post death
Age: Around 17 years old, canon doesn't state the age clearly.

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Chihiro is an expert programmer, and possesses a great talent with computers, having gained himself the title of Super High School Level Hacker and thus being accepted in the prestigious Hope Academy. He reached the point where he can develop self-aware AI programs, like his virtual persona named Alter Ego, which helped the other students a lot throughout the canon story after Chihiro's death. However, rather than a special ability, it is a natural talent he was born with.
How would they use their abilities?: To help people in general, through programming computers. He could even teach the less savvy people about it. Hacking is something he'd never do for personal gain, but he'd do that if it was in order to help someone - or he gets coaxed into it.

Appearance: Chihiro has short, brown hair, and brown eyes to match. His body build is tiny and fragile, and he's the shortest character in the series. He wears a green schoolgirl uniform with a brown skirt and black, tall socks. It's kind of impossible not to see through his crossdressing, as only hints from the game itself help the player figure out that he's not a girl.

Also, have a delicious fanart.

Background/Personality: At first impression, most people would think that Chihiro looks allegedly like a shy, fragile, easily distressed girl. It is not entirely wrong, except on the detail that Chihiro is actually male, and is wearing female clothes not because of actual gender issues, but instead it was done in order to resolve the bullying he was probably going to be the receiver of, had he kept his male appearance. This stems from the fact that, physically, he's smaller and weaker than an average boy. As a child, he never had enough physical strength to go outside and play with the other kids, causing him so much grief.

Having been made fun of for not being the "manly" type, strong and reliable like most of the kids, Chihiro suffered a lot from this; he was told many times that he couldn't be a boy with the little amount of body power he possessed. Because of the pressure he was put under, he eventually took a drastic decision that turned his life around: he decided to become a being even weaker than a weak boy. He decided to be a girl.

However, he'd soon discover that making himself out to be a girl didn't solve all his problems. Rather, it made his heart even more bitter, because even if people had no longer high expectations of him, that still meant that he was running away from his problems. He found a roundabout method to cope with his weakness, rather than try to fix the issue itself. Gradually, he grew more depressed; it hurt even worse than the bullying he was victim of. Even so, he felt that he couldn't go back to his male status and deal with people's ridicule again. He was stuck in those female clothes, with no good way out and a giant inferiority complex.

Other than physically fragile, he's also emotionally sensitive. Even a slight rude remark would reduce him to tears, and he doesn't like conflict at all, instead choosing to apologize and try to get away rather than hold his own. Basically, he's got no backbone in his spine, and that does not help the complexity of his situation. It goes to the point where he let a mosquito feed off him because he thought it was just hungry, he felt sorry for it and he didn't want to hurt it.

He deeply admires his classmates, and would rather stand to the side and let them shine, hoping that one day he could become as awesome as them. Nevertheless, he does want to try being a better person. He tries and struggles to be useful when there's need to, and he fails almost everytime. However, his inner strength is actually greater than anyone would think. Instead of giving into despair once he and the other students were trapped in the school and forced to murder each other, he finds the determination to improve himself once and for all. He's said he would have told everyone about his secret (That he's actually a boy) when he finally became stronger.

It should also be noted that one of the hints that foreshadowed his real gender in canon, is the fact that he gets along better with guys than girls. He can relate to them, which made him pretty popular in the internet world among the computer nerds and shut-ins. While he does respect Sakura and Aoi for being such strong people despite being female, he cannot understand them. Therefore, he didn't turn to them for help when he decided to start working out. Besides, he's generally very awkward around girls, a somewhat normal reaction coming from any teenage boy.

Ironically enough, his determination and willpower ultimely caused his demise, at the hands of the guy he called the strongest and completely trusted- Mondo Oowada.

Have you read up on how the game works?: It's called the FlamingFerret, such a cool name huh. And Chihiro could either find a job, go on missions, or do illegal things such as stealing money - but he'd never do the latter, ohoho.

1st person sample:

[ Being extremely tech-savvy to the point of ridicolousness certainly contitutes an advantage for Chihiro, if not for the fact that he's learnt the ways of the FlamingFerret after just a couple minutes of playing around with it, without needing to consult the guide. The video feed flickers on, showing the image of a... girl, in a green and brown schoolgirl uniform. Worried brown eyes shift from the left straight to the camera. Chihiro is visibly nervous, knowing this is going to be watched by everyone on the spaceship. ]

Good... uhm... evenin-- I mean, hello. [ Ah, he messed up already. Better cover it up, quick! Introductions are due. ] My... name is Chihiro Fujisaki, and I... seem to be new in this place. I'm actually new, yes- I'm sorry. It's... nice to meet you all, I guess.

[ Such a bad start. Chihiro gulps, eyes downcast in shame. ] I have no questions, actually. I only wanted to know if the people from my... world are here. [ The next bit is quiet, begging. He deeply hopes that he's not alone in this huge spaceship. ] If any of you see this message, please, contact me. You know who you are...

3rd person sample:

The first thing Chihiro had done after he entered his new room was head over to the large bed situated near the window, and sit down on it. His hands joined together on his lap, fingers moving nervously, entwining together, rubbing against his palms. He stayed in that position for long minutes, in dead silence, only the tick of the alarm clock on the bedside table giving proof of how real his current situation was. The beat of his own heart, he couldn't feel it.

Just when he made the resolution to never give up to despair, raise up from his pitiful state, took all the courage he could muster and asked Mondo to help him get stronger. Everything fell down under the weight of something heavy crushing into his head. Chihiro didn't remember what Mondo was holding when he suddenly lunged at him, but it was surely heavy enough to knock him down. When he next woke up, he thought he was in a heaven. No. It was yet another school. Yet another prison he was taken in by who knows who.

He feels his eyes tingle. Oh no, not again! He promised himself not to cry anymore, but his little chest tightened at the thought that none of his friends was here. The other students he met weren't from Hope's Academy; wherever he was, nobody would explain it to him clearly. It looked like they were all on the same boat. If only he could make himself useful...

Before he was capable to stop them, the tears made their way out. Hands cover his face, sobs coming out. He was too weak to hold back anymore. Without a computer in hand, he was nothing short of useless in this new mysterious world. A small, fragile, weak, useless boy in the clothes of a girl. He was back to square one. The one person who promised to give him strength, instead took the little he had all away from him. Chihiro wasn't sure what to think about Mondo, after this. Everything might become clearer with time, but for now, there was fog and despair.

However, he had to do something. He had no intention to sink deeper into helplessness. If what made him useful was a computer, then he had to get out and find one. Not today, though. Chihiro let the tears flow; he would cry and cry until he calmed down, and then he would give himself a night's rest, before starting his search. That is, if he could sleep at all.

Questions?: None.
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Of course.
